To apply to our program, you must submit your application through Duke University Graduate School Admissions. MS deadline for priority review is Jan 8, though all applications received by Jan 31 are guaranteed review. Applications received after Jan 31 will be reviewed if space is available.

To give you the most favorable consideration, we must have received all supporting materials – including transcripts, GREs (optional), and letters of recommendation – by the deadline. TOEFL (preferred) or IELTS scores are required for all students whose first language is not English.
Students must indicate in their applications whether they are applying for the Master of Science (M.S.) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs. PhD applicants have the option of automatically being considered for MS admission if the PhD application is unsuccessful. To do so, simply indicate your preference at the time of application. A new MS application is not required in this case. Once matriculated, a student who wishes to switch from the M.S. to Ph.D. program must formally apply to be admitted to the Ph.D. program.
